VA Day

Hi! Well, we had the Va again today. This morning my patient had about 14 teeth and all but maybe 1 of them was at least halfway blown out with decay, if not all the way! I felt really bad for him. He was only about 59 years old! Dr. Lee came in and my patient got scheduled for a full mouth extraction and dentures. This afternoon my patient didn't show up, so it was really uneventful but nice :)

I passed!!

Hey!! So I took the Local Anesthesia board on Saturday and i passed! I really thought I'd failed my IA. I kept hitting bone and I couldn't get my needle deep enough so I just deposited as far as I could go, just knowing that I had failed. Well, they passed me! I was so happy. That is such a huge weight lifted off my shoulders!

Well, yesterday in clinic I had a recall patient that I had just cleaned in September. He was a 3 the last 2 times I saw him, so I figured he'd be a 5 yesterday. Hello!!! He's 2 quads of a 3 and 2 of a 4. I was so excited! Well, I just got one quad finished so I've gotta schedule him again for next month. My afternoon patient was just a class 3 that I had to bring back for one more quad. He had the most tenacious calculus I've ever dealt with!! I used pretty much every instrument in my cassette, trying to get it off. It took me forever. Next week is our national written board and I'm getting really excited that I won't have to study my butt off anymore!!!!! I sure hope I pass :)

LA mockboard and another last minute cancellation

I did my local mockboard this morning on Gina and I totally passed! Well, I guess I wouldn't have passed because I went forward before the second examiner said "I see", but at least I know that my technique was right! I am so nervous about the real thing. I just want to pass!!! I know afterward I'm going to think that I was being so silly and that it's not that big of a deal! But for now, I think I'm ok to freak out. I just know I'll be so shaky. I wish that I could control my nerves better than that. It has been snowing like crazy, so this afternoon my patient canceled on me (2nd time for her...she's done). She said she had the flu. Funny, she sounded perfectly fine and perky yesterday! Crazy how that can take effect so quickly, especially when you have an appointment scheduled. Darn that murphy's law.

February 20th, another no show..oh AND last second cancellation

Hey! so today I was supposed to have a class 3 in the morning and a possible class 4 in the afternoon. My patient was confirmed and when it was 8:10, I had Lily call him and he said he was on his way. Well, he never showed. Go figure. So Loni was so nice and let me clean her patient's girlfriend and she ended up being a class 5, which I did need at the time. Then this afternoon, my patient was supposed to arrive early but he wasn't here at 12:30 so I called him and he made some lame excuse about how he had to be at court that day. Ughh!!! Well, there were these guys in the waiting room that needed their teeth cleaned. They're from Saudi Arabia! The one that I cleaned didn't speak English very well, so his friend helped translate. My pt ended up being possible board, so I gave him to Lindsey. That's all for that day :)
