Clinic 2/22/06

Hey, today I just ended up with a 3year old 1A. She was the cutest thing and so easy to work on. We even did xrays and it worked out all right. This was the first time she had ever had her teeth cleaned or xrays. She was very compliant but she did bite my finger once!! AH! That hurts!!! I'm still pretty frustrated with how slow I am. I feel like I'm always forgetting so many things too. I have an instructor come over for an OD check and I forget to look for suspicious areas or I forget something else. Does anyone else feel this way?? I really don't like clinic sometimes. I love it when it's over for the day though;)

Clinic 2/15

Today was so great in clinic because we learned how to use the ultrasonic and I didn't have the stresses that come with having a patient. Whew!!! So it was fun to learn it and I'm excited to use it!

Clinic 2/13

Hey!! I got so much done today! It was great. I scaled a 1B and then had a 1A also. I was kinda rushing myself at the end, but it all turned out alright. My 1B was so easy. He had very little calculus at all. My 1A was the cutest little girl! She was very compliant and giggled when I was scaling her because it felt funny to her. Oh my gosh, I wish all little kids would be like her. She normally was a gagger but we tried the fluoride tray and she did great! I was so glad. I'm excited to learn how to use the ultrasonic tomorrow. I can't wait to do that on one of my class 2 patients that is coming back. It will be great!

Clinic 2/8

Clinic today was kinda stressful. Ok, what day isn't stressful in clinic? I hate having afternoon clinics because I have anxiety over them in the morning, well, unless my patient is someone I know and that I'm comfortable with. I had to take BWX today and had to retake 2 of them because when my patient would close down on the holder, it would slide the xray back further in her mouth. So that took forever and was really annoying because then it took awhile to get an instructor to come and check off that I could take retakes and to watch me do them. Well anyway, I'm sure I'll get a blue slip tomorrow. I always do. This is going to be my class 2 exam. I hope she will come back. She seemed pretty put out when I told her that she would have to come back. Well anyway, I'm looking forward to finishing a 1B on Monday and then just doing ultrasonic on Wednesday. I'm always glad when we have a break from patients :) Is that rude? I just stress out so bad. ughhh

Clinic 2/6

Hey! Today I finished scaling my friend that was my first exam patient. It went really well. I was really excited because I was going to do my sealant PE on him, but then Dr. Hopkin said that there may have been possible decay on the tooth I was going to seal!!! Bummer huh. Oh well. I got an exam done so that makes me feel good!!!

Clinic 2/1

Today was such a great day in clinic for me! I got a lot accomplished. Well first of all, my friend was my patient so I was much more relaxed than if I had a stranger. Then I was able to pass off my removable appliance pe because he has a night guard for bruxism. I also passed off my Explorer pe and he also is my 1st exam patient. I got 2 quads scaled on him today so he does have to come back but he is going to have a sealant done when he comes back. What a great friend, huh? Overall it was a nice week for clinic.
