Last Clinic Day!!!...well almost

So today was really funny in clinic. We did pretend emergencies. It was so hilarious to see everyone acting like they're having a serious emergency. I think our pod is in the wrong field. We should all go into acting. We were laughing so much. It was fun...after that we passed off our PSR PE (last PE of the semester. Yessss) and then we just did whatever. I practiced my posterior instrumentation on Kristen and then she gave me 2 new sealants and polished my teeth. It was lovely..except for the chocolate flavored paste. It was so sick! Whatever you do, don't try it. You're patient will probably throw up on you. Have a nice day ;)

Clinic November 28th

Wow! It's almost December!! I can't believe it is almost the end of the semester. I still feel so not confident in myself. But anyway...today we did PSR's on each other. It wasn't too difficult to do. I just need to remember which class is what number..yadda yadda yadda. I'm so excited that we only have 2 more clinic days!! Can't wait for a break. I think we all deserve it!

November 21, 2005

Hey, clinic today was really good practice for us. We went through how to set up a TX plan and enter everything into the computer. I still feel like such a ditz when I go through all the steps from taking blood pressure to finishing an appointment. I need to write down every single tiny step so I don't miss anything. That's pretty much it.

Sealants!

Hey, today we did sealants for the first time. It was not too bad I guess. I felt like I could do it. I always tend to get a little frustrated because I can never see as well as I'd like to. But anyway, after a couple attempts, I finally got all Melissa's pits and grooves sealed off on #14. It was fun. I instrumented for a little while and then we cleaned up and went home!

Clinic November 14th

Wow! Clinic today was messy. I hate air powder polishing! It's ok to do it on other people but it's just so messy. It hurts too! I can remember that I've had that done before. Since I have the braces, that's what they do to me at the dentist. I remember it hurting and not liking it. After we had it done on ourselves in clinic, we all had salt all over our faces. It wasn't the best tasting stuff either. I'm glad we have to have these things done to us so we can know what it's like for the patient. I was able to practice more of my posterior instrumentation and that was nice. We found out that our pod is going to be completely split up next semester. I was kinda annoyed about that. We are the only 4 people staying with our normal schedule but we can't stay in our same operatories. Whatever, oh well.

Clinic November 9th

Do you know that there are only 46 days until Christmas?? That means this semester is even closer to being done. That is a scary but fun thought. So today was really great in clinic. I had Aimee as my partner and she is so nice! She was telling me I did a good job and that totally made me feel confident! I loved it. So we just worked on the posteriors today and passed off a couple of PE's. It was nice to get 3 done at a time. They weren't hard but it gave me a sense of accomplishment.

Tomorrow is another Thursday already. Hopefully these upcoming tests will go ok. I'm not too worried about Anatomy because it's pretty basic but Hygiene, now there's another story. It seems like there aren't any straight forward questions really. They are worded so stupid sometimes. Ughh, hopefully I will be able to memorize all my modules :) and get 100% (yessss). Well, that's my goal. We'll see how that goes. Meanwhile, here's a cute picture of Bonnie.

Clinic November 7th

Hey, today we tried out doing fluoride for the first time in clinic. I was excited because I'd actually done this before! WOW! It was pretty cool. Other than that, we did the same thing as we did last time. Candice and I worked on each other again. It was pretty fun to polish. So tomorrow we're supposed to practice sharpening instruments! I hope that will be fun :)

Here's a cute picture of Melissa with Dex. Look at those cheeks!!!!

Polishing!!!

It's NOVEMBER!! I can't believe it! So clinic was so fun yesterday! Candice was my partner and I felt really bad for her that she had to deal with my braces. Sorry to everyone who has to work on me! It gives you practice, though, right? Well anyway, we laughed a lot from her getting prophy paste on my face and then when my evacuator tip fell on the floor and the plastic was being sucked into the...um..evacuator. Whatever it's called, while Candice's mouth was full of foam!

It was so fun to polish! I liked it alot! We were both able to pass off our PE's and all. It was a very successful day in clinic. I'm starting to feel better about being inadequate. I'm coming to realize that I'm not as behind as I thought..well hopefully. I think we're all in about the same place with technique. I'm really hoping I can get this stuff down soon so I can actually see patients. I can't believe we have only like 4 weeks left! It's crazy. Oh, I also got some loupes to try for about a week to see if I like them and I might buy them! I'm hoping they will work out ok for me. I really think they'll be super useful for probing. I HATE probing. I seriously can't stand it. It's is SO hard to see all the way back there and try to determine a measurement! Well anyway, hope everyone has a good weekend. bye
