Oh WOW! (9/14/06)
Hey, well today was quite an eventful day! This morning I started out cleaning a lady that was in her 40's that had never had her teeth cleaned, and she ended up being a class 3 with some pretty gnarly calculus! It was neat but she had to leave early :( so I will have to reschedule her to get that done.
My afternoon patient was something else! I'm sure everyone in clinic heard him going on and on about how it's everybody's fault that he has the health problems that he has. First of all he walks in with a Dr. Pepper in his hand. I gave him crap about bringing that into the clinic and then he told me that he was SO thirsty. So I proceeded to educate him on how pop actually dehydrates you and that he should switch to drinking water to quench his thirst. I think a light went on! So then he was really rude and completely ignores what you are saying. He really enjoyed listening to himself talking over me and really was so rude! I had to just ignore him and keep going on with my HHX questions. He was on all these medications but didn't know the name of any of them! Well, he knew one but that was all. So after about 30 minutes of trying to get through the health history, I finally just took his BP and (luckily;) it was way too high to treat him. Oh yes, while I was taking his BP he was constantly telling me that I was doing it wrong and that the cuff was not tight enough. Oh my gosh! I was getting so irriatated by him. So when we told him that his BP was too high to treat him, he completely went off and starting getting really upset. Eventually he was told to leave but that we could treat him if he got a dr's note saying it was ok with his BP being so high and if he brought in a list of his meds. Wow, that was a long story made short. He was there an hour. An HOUR, this took!!!! Complete waste of time. Right now I'm trying to figure out what to do with him. I don't have an appt available for him until November but he needs to get his teeth cleaned asap so Midtown can work on him more. I definitely don't want to pass him on to someone else unless they think they can deal with him. I may call him and suggest that he go to a private practice. I'm kinda scared :( Any suggestions?

Ashley,
You was very professional!! You did a great job! I am not sure that anyone could handle him! I think it is crap that we need to see him in our clinic when he treats the students a faculty like he did! I would tell him not to let the door hit him in the butt!! Best of Luck!
Ash,
You're so cute! I would definately be irritated if he was rude and ignorant. I'm sure you did so awesome. Now I'll know who the crazy man is when you talk about him. I would definately count it as luck that his BP was too high!
Was his name Kelly W.
